FAQs

GENERAL CBD QUESTIONS

How does CBD work?

Unfortunately, the benefits of CBD are under-researched and we are still slowly figuring out how CBD and other cannabinoids react with the body. For a drug that has shown so much potential in so many different areas, there has not been nearly as much research as pharmaceutical grade medicines that are heavily funded.

What may be true is that CBD has several positive effects on the physical and mental health of humans. In fact, recent studies suggest that CBD can work by promoting the reabsorption of serotonin.

On top of this, studies also indicate that CBD may promote neurogenesis or the creation of new brain cells. It has only been recently that scientists have discovered that this process is possible in adults—rather than just children—so this is a positive sign that CBD products could have a tangible, long-lasting impact as an every day savior.

If your mental health has created a block to your own happiness and success, it may be time to consider CBD as one of the many wellness options that can help you get back on the right path.

What exactly is CBD?

CBD is an abbreviation for cannabidiol, a chemical compound found naturally in the cannabis plant. It is not mind altering like marijuana, which means CBD will not make you high. Over the past 40 years there have been numerous studies that highlight the potential of CBD. Researchers discovered the human EndoCannabinoid System (ECS), which is the system that CBD interacts with.

CBD oil is obtained by extracting CBD from the hemp plant using a process in which CO2 is at a low temperature, under high pressure. By doing this, CO2 is captured in a liquid state, drawing out CBD and terpenes from the hemp plant.

Is it OK to mix my CBD Tincture with food or beverages?

You most certainly can mix your tincture with food, drinks or anything else that’s edible. As you go along, you will figure out which foods can improve the taste of a CBD tincture, and which foods seem to slow down the speed in which the effects of CBD kick in (perhaps because certain foods are digested at a slower rate).

However, the only off-limits foods would be those that disagree with your own diet or health concerns.

Will there be any negative side effects of taking the CBD Tincture?

As with any natural or supplement product, there are always risks associated with consumption. Some of our customers have reported slight dizziness or drowsiness. While we cannot promise that taking our CBD is risk free, we de believe that the chance of being exposed to any major risks are low.

If there are any concerns at all with taking our CBD Tincture then it is worth consulting with a doctor, who can advise further.

How often should I take my CBD?

Everyone is different physiologically, please follow the recommended dosages on the bottles and dose up or down as needed. However, it is important to note that CBD tinctures last relatively long compared to other edibles. If you are feeling as though you need to use your tincture multiple times per day to truly benefit, you may not be taking a strong enough dosage at all or you may need to speak to your doctor about adding other strategies to your health management plan.

Consult your doctor first, but here is an explanation of Care Better Daily's CBD concentration and ideas for dosing: https://youtu.be/4KsRKrSl6eE

Can I make my own CBD tincture?

There are certainly at-home recipes floating around the Internet that may be worth trying, although they are often for THC-infused products. When you buy CBD oil on its own in hopes of using it to produce your own CBD tincture, you risk buying a lower quality product.

To make matters worse, many competitors have the unfortunate habit of buying low-quality products from international sources like China, where the agricultural and industrial regulations are much looser.

At Sunday Scaries, all our products are clean, pesticide-free and GMO-free. We used CO2 extraction for the best quality product and full spectrum CBD for fastest absorption.

At the end of the day, there is no harm in taking up tinctures as a DIY project. However, if you are just beginning to embrace CBD, it might be in your best interest to start with a high quality product like our CBD Tincture.

How should I store my tincture of CBD?

We recommend you store our CBD Tincture in your an area that is room temperature after opening. This will preserve the quality of the product and ensure it lasts as long as possible. Be sure to also keep it away from anything that may contaminate it.

What are Terpenes?

CBD Terpenes are oils with Terpenes added. They are what give plants their specific scents. For example, the smell of flowers, fruits, and cannabis are all produced by Terpenes. The Terpenes in cannabis not only produce a specific aroma, but they contribute to the difference between strains of cannabis.

Will CBD get me 'stoned' or 'high'?

No. CBD will not get you “high” or cause you to feel such sensations. THC  is the chemical that produces a “high”. CBD has less than 0.3 THC at most and is filtered out leaving 100% pure, natural CBD.

What is a CBD tincture?

CBD tincture is an oil based hemp extract made for sublingual consumption. It dissolves quickly in your mucous membrane. It might sound like an unpleasant or inconvenient option for CBD consumption, but tinctures are often mixed with edible and natural oils and come with droppers that can ensure you get the most accurate possible dosage.

CBD tinctures are produced when C02 is used to extract cannabinoids (including CBD) from the cannabis plant. This will ensure that every ingredient is active and that the product is as strong and effective as it possible.

What is the EndoCannabinoid System?

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a group of cannabinoid receptors in your brain and nervous system. CBD interacts with cannabinoid receptors which keeps your body in balance.  TED Talks are a very popular program for unusual topics.  Here is video called “Demystifying the Endocannabinoid System.”

Can CBD Help me?

CBD, along with other cannabinoids, interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors within the human endocannabinoid system to regulate homeostasis. Many people report that CBD influences physiological functions including sleep, mood, memory, pain modulation, immune function, cardiovascular function and inflammatory response.   The FDA has not ruled definitively that CBD has direct health benefits.  However, major universities are studying the effects of CBD and conducting massive research projects.

In the case of the University of California San Diego, they have their own Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research.  They are conducting investigations into Cannabis research to the tune of $3 Million in research grants.

CMCR announces $3M in new research grants to California investigators

The Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research (CMCR) at UC San Diego has been a leader in medical marijuana research since 2000. In the past CMCR has allocated funds to investigators in California to conduct some of the first proof of principle clinical trials of cannabis in neuropathic pain and multiple sclerosis.

With the recent allocation of new funding to CMCR as part of Proposition 64, the CMCR has launched a new wave of grant applications aimed at examining both the efficacy and safety of medicinal cannabinoids. CMCR issued a call for applications to investigators in California in April 2019, received 66 letters of intent from 19 California institutions, and invited 26 applications for primary and pilot studies. Based on external peer review, advice of the CMCR’s National Advisory Council, and rating of attentiveness to CMCR priorities, the Center has selected 5 studies for funding this year. The studies to be funded are listed in the table below.

Is CBD psychoactive?

CBD is not psychoactive like other drugs because it has less than 0.3 THC.   In layman’s terms, CBD doesn’t make you high.  Cannabis is the parent plant at the top of the family.  Underneath Cannabis are a variety of plants.

Hemp, also called Industrial Hemp for its use in various industries like clothing, etc., ,  is classified as a Cannabis varietal.  This rigorous and worldwide growing plant has less than 0.3% THC.

THC is the ingredient which causes the ‘high'.   THC (also known as tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive component of Cannabis. Hemp contains trace levels of THC,   A trace level means that you detect that the ingredient is there but it's on such a low minute level that it has no effect.   In cooking, for instance, many recipes call for a flavored alcohol added to the raw food in the cooking process.  The alcohol burns off – mostly.  A tiny amount of alcohol remains in the food but not enough to cause any intoxication or effect.  Industrial Hemp is similar with its trace THC amounts.  Detectable but no effect.

Cannabis plants with THC levels above .3% are not Hemp, they are referrred to as cannabis or marijuana.

Even though THC and CBD share a nearly exact formula, one critical difference in their molecular structure that gives each compound unique medicinal properties. THC has a cyclic ring while CBD has a hydroxyl group (see Figure 1 below) –– and this one difference is why THC will get you high and CBD won’t. In fact, CBD is often used to help moderate THC’s effects by alleviating stress and anxiety.

Does CBD get you high
What is the benefit of taking CBD as a tincture?

There are many instances where people prefer to using CBD tinctures as opposed to edibles likes gummies. One of the primary benefits is the fact that you can easily prepare the correct dosage. Once you are familiar with the dosage of CBD that you need, the dropper will make it easy to ensure that you never accidentally go too high or too low.

While you are still figuring out your dosage, the dropper will still come in handy by allowing you to take slow and small steps towards the right dosage.

Another benefit of the CBD tincture is the fast-acting, yet long-lasting effects of the oil. This is especially true when taken as drops under the tongue, as your body’s response to the tincture can be almost immediate, and you can expect the effects to last much longer than vaping.

When CBD oil is taken with food or mixed into a beverage, the long-lasting effects will stay the same, although it may take more time for your body to initially process it. CBD tinctures are also an affordable option, starting out at just $75.00 per bottle. Even very small bottles, such as our CBD Tincture, contain 500 mg of CBD per bottle. This will last a surprisingly long time.

How much of my CBD Tincture do I need to take?

We recommend taking ⅓ of a dropper to start out. Then based on your response, you can take more or less. You can use this strategy until you find the dosage that is right for you. Some of our customers report that they had to experiment for a few days to find the right dosage for them.

Does your CBD Tincture taste good?

CBD tinctures are mixed with edible and natural oils, which greatly improve the taste. On its own, CBD is not exactly the tastiest product out there, and the solvent used to produce tinctures are not known for being scrumptious, either.

However, most customers do not find the taste to be a problem, especially given the fact that you consume the product in such small amounts. You also have the ability to mix your tincture freely with tastier food and drink so you really have nothing to worry about 🙂

Will I become addicted to CBD tinctures?

There are not sufficient studies readily available to answer this question. Whether or not certain substances can be classified as physically addictive depends on several factors, including how it causes human nerve cells to send and receive messages. CBD can promote serotonin reabsorption—something key for those struggling with personal darkness—but it ultimately does not target or interfere with your dopamine production, something that is key to classifying a substance as physically addictive. When you use an addictive substance, your brain’s reward system will trick itself into thinking it needs more of said substance to produce any dopamine, a hormone in your brain associated with happiness and rewards.

If you have concerns about becoming addicted to our CBD Tincture, we encourage you to speak with your doctor or trained medical professional.
