Your Pets are your Best Friends.
Many people want to not only use CBD for its wellness benefits but also would like to extend these benefits to their furry friends – dogs, cats and other loved creatures.
CBD works on a Mammal’s nervous system – human and furry. But what is the best CBD for pets? First, let’s lay a little groundwork.

Newbies – What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of cannabis, a plant with a rich history as a medicine going back thousands of years. A safe, non-addictive substance, CBD is one of more than a hundred “phytocannabinoids,” which are unique to cannabis and endow the plant with its robust therapeutic profile.
CBD is closely related to another important medicinally active phytocannabinoid: tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound that causes the high that cannabis is famous for. These are the two components of cannabis that have been most studied by scientists.
Both CBD and THC have significant therapeutic attributes. But unlike THC, CBD does not make a person feel “stoned” or intoxicated. That’s because CBD and THC act in different ways on different receptors in the brain and body.
How does CBD Work?
CBD and THC interact with our mammal bodies in a variety of ways. First of all, we have certain compounds in the body called “endogenous cannabinoids”. These compounds are named “endocannabinoids” which is based upon an internal regulatory system called the “endocannabinoid system.”
Discovery of the endocannabinoid system advanced medical understanding of health and disease. impacts most every area of medical science. Various studies explain how and why CBD and THC are such versatile compounds.
The endocannabinoid system plays a critical role to regulate numerous physiological processes in our everyday life. These processes include mood, energy level, intestinal fortitude, immune activity, blood pressure, bone density, glucose metabolism. It also includes individual experiences for pain, stress, hunger, and more.
If the endocannabinoid system doesn’t function properly on an even keel, then the result is pretty clear: disease.

How Does CBD Affect Dogs?
Currently, there has been no formal study on how CBD affects dogs. What scientists do know is that cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid receptors located in the central and peripheral nervous systems, which help maintain balance in the body and keep it in a normal healthy state.
People, dogs and cats have a common heritage: We’re all mammals.
Let us define that:
Mammals are: “Mammals (from Latin mamma “breast”) are vertebrate animals constituting the class Mammalia (/məˈmeɪliə/), and characterized by the presence of mammary glands which in females (and sometimes males[1]) produce milk for feeding (nursing) their young, a neocortex (a region of the brain), fur or hair, and three middle ear bones. ” (Wikipedia)
Now Wikipedia has its own issues of bias, inaccuracy and more on many issues, but it’s scientific entries generally show sound footing.
If humans, dogs and cats are mammals, then their systems are very similar – and might respond to wellness products in a similar fashion.
CBD Research has only just begun – having been stilted for decades with its improper classification until President Trump signed the 2018 Farm Bill. This sweeping legislation delisted hemp as a controlled substance and boosted many farmers income.
But that’s when the research could really begin in earnest – and two years is not a lot of time for scientific research.
For the record, I am going to say ‘dogs’ here, but you can assume that I mean dogs and cats.
Criteria for CBD Oil
Best CBD oil for dogs (and pets) must involve the same criteria that we would apply for our own wellness products. One needs to do a little research so that treating your dog with CBD will have short and long-term benefits. While examining benefits of CBD for dogs and cats, you should keep these criteria in mind.
Organic
Quality CBD products start with the essence of Industrial plant growth. That means soil and water must be pristine and organic. The smallest component can seriously affect these two critical components of any plant growth. For example, if a farm area next to or nearby the Industrial Hemp growth area has a fertilizer, toxic materials or other concerns, then the Industrial Hemp area is at risk. These particular contaminants can infect the Industrial Plants growing for production of CBD.
Industrial Hemp just ‘soaks’ up the elements in the soil. Hemp is used for phytoremediation for soil contamination. When grown in contaminated soil, then these toxic elements will be sucked up into the Industrial Hemp which can be harvested and safely disposed of. But then the soil is ‘cleansed’ to some degree.

Vegan
CareBetterDaily.com makes sure to use the the finest quality materials so that its products are 100% Vegan.
Laboratory Test
Finally, we also make sure that the product is tested at an independent third-party Laboratory – and post the results online for you to review. We have also read and note a recent article that the FDA issued a warning on untested CBD products.
“The FDA is also concerned that a lack of appropriate processing controls and practices can put consumers at additional risks. For example, the agency has tested the chemical content of cannabinoid compounds in some of the products, and many were found to not contain the levels of CBD they claimed. Reports of CBD potentially containing unsafe levels of contaminants (e.g., pesticides, heavy metals, THC) are also being investigated.”
You are putting a product in your body and you should know what is contained in that product. In addition, every company should post the results of third-party laboratory tests.

Where is Dog and Cat Research on CBD?
CBD for pets is a new topic. There is little to no scientific data on treating dogs with CBD. However, given that people and dogs are so similar, we can deduce that the CBD effects for people are also good for dogs too.
So, let's examine some effects on humans that might be in other mammals.
Cannabinoids affect your endocannabinoid system, which works to keep the body in an even state, or homeostasis. When the body gets out of whack with inflammation or disease, CBD may give your endocannabinoid system a boost to do its job as a body regulator.
The reduction of muscle and organ inflammation which is particularly acute in older ‘patients’.
Stress and Anxiety contribute mightily to disease and illness so managing these mental conditions, especially anxiety, can improve one’s health. Humans suffer stress and so do pets. They might also have specific phobias.
Every 4th of July, dogs and cats must endure considerable barrages of fireworks in an unanticipated manner – which creates enormous stress. One year, I spent four hours sitting inside a closet with my dear labrador-border collie mix, Mattie, during a 4th of July.
Comforting her gave me one of my best memories – but CBD might’ve helped.
CBD’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties may be able to reduce risk factors that can lead to heart disease, like high blood pressure. It may also be able to reduce the risk of related conditions, like stroke.
CBD has also been called an antiemetic which controls both nausea and vomiting – while stimulating a good appetite.
What are Potential Side Effects with Pets
As with any medicine for any mammal, the individual may feel unique side effects because they are, well, individuals!
First, in general, CBD from hemp is considered safe and non-toxic. Numerous medical organizations have concluded that CBD does not indicate any abuse or dependence potential. More likely, the concern lies in the adverse effects between an individual or pet’s existing medications and CBD. Therefore, one should do proper due diligence about existing drug usage with the addition of CBD.
One must remember that the study of CBD is in its infancy in regard to scientific research. With continued growth of CBD as a wellness product, the knowledge base will only grow.

What are some current studies?
Research is growing at numerous institutions across the U.S. after the signing of the 2018 Farm Bill, but many institutions rely on sponsors, donations and department budgets for their ongoing and future work.
CBDStasis.com has a great exhaustive list of CBD clinical studies showing a powerful positive trend in results.
